Daddy, Where's the golf?

(Steve posting again)
We got up well rested In fact, we didn't make it out of the room until almost 11... just in time to catch the end of the breakfast included with our stay. The breakfast spread was pretty divine. After the cramped apartment in Mendoza and the travel day, it felt amazing to see a huge buffet, hot coffee, and an attentive wait staff in a salon the size of three basketball courts with a 40 ft. ceiling, and huge windows overlooking the famed view. The photo above is Paco looking out one of the windows trying to see the golf course and the pool, below.

The Llao Llao is famed for it's views as well well as its decor... which would probably throw a member of PETA into complete meltdown. It has a bit of rustic charm with wood everywhere and a kind of "hunting lodge for the richest guy in the world" feel. There are deer skulls with enormous antlers everywhere. The main lobby bar has chandeliers made of anters intertwined to make nests of lights. The chairs in the lobby bar are not only with full-fur deer hides, but many are covered in the delicate spotted pelts of fawns... I'm glad Paco didn't recently watch Bambi or he would have been in tears. It's much more elegant and warm-feeling than my description above makes it sound, though.

Anyway, after breakfast, we went exploring. There is a "kids club" where they offer babysitting services and activities for the kids. Our plan was to keep Paco busy while Erin and I went for a hike in the nearby hills. We found the kids rooms, one of which is filled with pool tables, foosball tables, video games, basically complete heaven for Paco. However, we didn't see any other kids. We found out that we needed to go down another level to the spa where the girl who takes care of the kids could be found. It appears that Paco was the only kid around today. Lilliana from the hotel took Paco to play and Erin and I started our hike.

More to come later
