Pancho no lloró

Ayer, fuimos a las classes. Both Steve and were suprised when Paco, sorry, Pancho, did not cry when we dropped him off at Mandarina, the preschool/daycare where he is going this week. Of course, today he did cry, but I think he is just exhausted.

Steve and I both wrote nice long entries about Sunday, when we headed up to the mountains, and the arrival in Mendoza, but we cannot get the WiFi to work with either the computer or the Palm pilot.

I am understanding more why people love Mendoza. I think the heart of it is the mendocinos themselves. There is an amiability to the citizens that is easy to discover. When we first arrived, the town seemed pretty run down, and for Saturday afternoon and Sunday, 90% of the businesses were closed. But last night after the siesta we walked around the Plaza Independencia and enjoyed café and galletitas (cookies). At the end, we bought Pancho a new ball, so a trip to the park is in my future today.

I love both of my teachers. Jorgelina is teaching a majority of the grammar, she is originally from Rosario, much closer to Buenos Aires. The other is Natalia, who I think is supposed to be focusing on conversation. They are both articulate and well educated. Mendoza has a lot of words and phrases that are specific to the region. And they definitely are Argentine in their dialect.

I have not has has much helado as I thought I would. In reality, time is being consumed between school and siesta and trying to get Pancho to sleep at a reasonable hour!

Must go, the tango lesson is starting.
