(Steve posting this time) The light at the end of the tunnel didn't say "Haas" but it did say "Llao Llao Hotel." Fabiane and crew were waiting just outside of the baggage claim area at the Bariloche airport. There were three couples and us for the trip in the transport van. I thought we were loaded-down with luggage given that we are three complete with stroller, car seat, and stuffed animals but I think we're actually travelling light as others had more luggage then we did and none of them appeared to be travelling for a month.
Anyway, it was cold, raining, and Fabiane and the driver couldn't have been more welcoming. I was just NOT ready for a long fiasco like we had with Hertz in Mendoza.
Anway, we got to the hotel in the dark, went to the room (very nice), ordered room service (Paco thought it was called "food circus" and we all had fun with our little picnic at 11:30 pm). Exhuasted, we showered and fell asleep.
The image above is what welcomed us this morning. Yes, the image is through the screen in the window, but I wanted to show what we saw. Clear with a few puffy clouds and the sun rising above snow-covered peaks above a clear blue Andean Lago Moreno. We didn't even splurge for a room with a view, this is the cheapest seat in the house!
This is hard for me to say, but I used to think that Lake Tahoe was one of the most beatiful sights in the world until now. The mountains here are much different. The lower elevations are covered in rich vegitation and the peaks rise sharply to snow-covered peaks. Today it's going to be a brisk 12 degrees Celcius but clear and dry.
Will post more about the day's experiences later.
